Stroke

Smoking is a deadly habit. Many are addicted to it, and many have already died because of it. Most smokers really can’t explain why they’re so hooked with it. It could be the pleasure that it gives them, or they’re just simply addicted to it. Whichever angle you look at it, whether it makes sense or not, the smoker always finds it hard to set this habit aside. They know the risks but they still can’t get enough of it.

Smoking is known to be the leading cause of cancer, reproductive health issues, heart disease and a lot more. People don’t seem to mind the illnesses because they are already addicted to the feeling that each puff of a stick gives them. One of the illnesses that you can get from smoking is a cerebrovascular accident, or commonly known as stroke.

Stroke, or medically known as cerebrovascular accident, is a sudden mutilation of the blood vessels that aid in cerebral circulation. It’s an attack in one or more of the blood vessels that are being supplied in the brain. Stroke is also called brain attack; this illness interrupts the supply of oxygen to the brain tissues which can cause serious damage to it.

Smokers increase the person’s chances of acquiring diseases because it is responsible for the hardening of the tissues and arteries. These are due to the toxins that one gets from smoking or simply inhaling a second-hand smoke. When the arteries and tissues turn hard, it is a condition known as atherosclerosis which is caused by the toxins the smoker takes in when he’s smoking. Any person who has suffered a stroke knows how vital it is to restore normal circulation as soon as possible; this is to avoid further damage to the brain tissues.

When you suspect that you may be a candidate for stroke, you need to look out for symptoms such as dizziness, difficulty walking or focusing and slurred speech. There are unusual signs as well like feeling lethargic due to heightened sensitivity to light.

When somebody reminds you to take care of your health, that doesn’t only mean you have to be physically fit. It also means to take care of the organs inside our body, the heart, the lungs and specially the brain. Smoking costs too much, it even puts our life at stake. It’s best that you quit smoking and enjoy your health to live long!
