Facts On Smoking

If you would ask smokers why they smoke, they cannot quite explain the pleasure that each cigarette stick brings to them. Each person has his reasons for smoking. Some just want to rebel from society, some due to peer pressure, some smoke just to socialize and some are just addicted to it. Anywhere you go, you will find people puffing a cigarette. We all know that it’s dangerous, but sometimes you can’t help but wonder, are they aware of what they are doing to their health?

Smoking Is Costly

Smoking doesn’t only damage our health, once you get hooked to this habit; the price you pay could be both your hard earned money and your health. When one feels the urge to smoke, you will exhaust all the means that you know just to get yourself that cigarette. It may cost you a little amount to buy yourself a pack but in the long run, you get to spend something more extravagant; your life. Yearly, a total of 400,000 people die prematurely in the United States due to the diseases that they get from smoking. Shockingly in China, a total of one million people have died and the causes of their deaths are smoking related disorders.

Nicotine Addiction

Nicotine is one of the components that the cigarette has. It is the main cause for a smoker’s addiction to cigarettes. An average smoker is able to inhale 1mg of nicotine for every cigarette he consumes, too much of this can already kill a grown man. Unbelievably, there are over five trillion cigarettes that are bought by one billion smokers every year, and a total of 15 billion cigarettes sold every day. If this kind of custom continues; out of 1 billion smokers, 8 million will die due to the diseases brought by smoking.

From Smoker To Third-Hand Smoker

Yes, second-hand smoke exists and so does third-hand smoke. Second-hand smoke, or also known as side stream smoke, is described as the smoke exhaled from the smoker’s lungs and inhaled by the non-smoker in his surroundings. The second-hand smoke can also trigger ear and respiratory infections as well as asthma. Third hand smoke is the residues left when a cigarette has already been put out. You can inhale it when you are able to smell smoke lingering in the smoker’s clothes. This isn’t as dangerous as smoking or second-hand smoke but it can still cause health threats to non-smokers.

Smoker or non-smoker, one must not take their health for granted in order for us to live longer in this world. Encourage your friends and loved ones to stop smoking. The most effective way for them to quit the habit is through EFT or Emotional Freedom Technique. This is one method that will assist smokers in overcoming their smoking habit for good.
